In addition to the official unveiling of our Kee sports coupe concept vehicle and European pro_cee’d production car, the commencement of the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show also saw the long awaited grand opening of Kia’s brand new European headquarters and design center. And I was extremely pleased to have been on hand to deliver my best wishes.
Literally just a stone’s throw away from Messe Frankfurt (the venue for the Frankfurt Motor Show), our new European facilities, and the talent within, will drive the not only the future of Kia in Europe but also our efforts to forge a new design identity.
Peter Schreyer, Kia’s Chief Design Officer, will direct our global design initiatives from this new state-of-the-art facility, which will be joined shortly by a similar design studio in the USA located at our brand new Kia Motors America (KMA) corporate headquarters. These localized design centers are the key to achieving our global vision for Kia: to become a design-choice brand without high product pricing.
Design is being taken seriously throughout our entire organization; and these new investments are a clear sign that we are dedicated to keeping a finger on the pulse of both European and North American consumer tastes as we strive to become the new and exciting automotive icon of the 21st century.

October 1st, 2007 at 12:01 pmWell, I’m really impressed with the new kia hq! No match for the BMW hq designed by Coop Himmelb(l)au, but still it gets the job done.
I’m a senior architect with a design company working with General Motors Europe to implement the Corporate Identity with Romanian dealers. We’re all Kia fans, and we would do the same job for kia FOR FREE! It’s just what we Brits do – bet on the underdog, knowing that’s it’s really better than the overrated brands out there.
