After being named one of Interbrand’s Best Global Green Brands earlier this year, Kia Motors has jumped to number 74 on the definitive list of 100 Best Global Brands. This is nine spots ahead of last year’s ranking on the annual list put out by international brand consultancy Interbrand, which ranks the world’s most valuable brands. Moreover, Kia’s brand value has skyrocketed about 480% since 2007, after hiring Peter Schreyer as chief design officer and placing design at the core of its management philosophy.
The 2014 Paris Motor Show is still in full swing until next week, and the Kia booth has a total of 23 cars on display for all visitors to see! Not in Paris? No worries! All Kia fans can now get a Kia Virtual Tour of the Kia booth in Paris thanks to Google View. Google View allows all Kia fans to visit the Kia displays at the Paris Motor Show from the comfort of their own home, even getting a peek inside the all-new third-generation 2015 Kia Sorento, the enhanced Kia Rio and Venga models, and the revolutionary Optima T-hybrid concept and the Soul EV!
We’re finally done teasing about the 2014 Paris Motor Show, which is Europe’s last big motor show of the year, after holding a press conference and opening the Kia booth to the public. Those who got to stop by the Kia booth had a chance to see the 3rd generation Kia Sorento model, which just made its European debut, the enhanced Kia Rio and Venga models, and even the Kia Soul EV! Parisians also got a look at the prototype model of the Kia Optima featuring T-Hybrid tech.
We’ve been teasing this year’s Paris Motor Show over the past couple weeks, and today we had the chance to unveil the 3rd generation Sorento in Europe exclusively to the media. Paris, we’re (almost) here! As always, the finest display of innovation and design in the automotive industry can be found at the Paris Motor Show. So you wouldn’t expect anything else from Kia in Paris this year, and we do have quite a lineup in store for the Paris Motor Show, which kicks off on October 2 for the media. From the highly-anticipated European debut of the all-new Kia Sorento\ to newly-updated versions of the popular Rio and Vengamodels, Kia’s design and tech is on full display along with the new Kia Optima T-Hybrid concept, showcasing the wide spectrum that Kia innovationcovers.
Slow and steady wins the race? Not for the Kia Racing team! After just a few years of racing, Kia Motors America has been named the winner of the 2014 Pirelli World Challenge (PWC), one of the biggest races in the automotive world. In 2010, Kia first teamed up with Kinetic Motorsports, a world-class racing organization based in Georgia, to start up what is now the Kia Racing team. Kia is the first Korean brand to earn the coveted title of PWC Champion.
Kia is introducing an enhanced concept of corporate value via a new global brand communication project called ‘Re:Design.’ The ‘Re:Design’ project will move Kia’s brand communications away from the previous focus on our vehicles’ design and put more emphasis on using design to bring positive changes to car owners and their lives. To mark the beginning of the new campaign, Kia is inviting fathers and sons to share their stories through the ‘Re:Design the Drive – Father & Son Road Trip Contest’ for a chance to win a special overnight road trip with Kia.
Kia is known for our love of sports, and this year alone we’ve sponsored the World Cup, the World Extreme Games, and most recently the Kia Korea Open, which is part of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) tour. The 9-day international tournament, lasting from September 13-21, brought together 200 female tennis players from 33 countries. Big-name tennis stars like Maria Kirilenko of Russia and Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland competed on the court for the title of Kia Korea Open champion.
From Geneva to New York to Beijing, Kia has been busy this year with appearances at all of the world’s greatest motor shows. This time, we hit Russia! From August 29th to September 7th, Kia is presenting its latest in innovation and style at the 2014 Moscow International Automobile Salon. The MIAS is the hottest motor show in Russia, both in terms of size and the level of attention it attracts. There, Kia will be showcasing the Kia Quoris and Soul EV models, and organizers expect that Kia will attract more than 1 million attendants to the Crocus Expo during the exhibition period.
On August 28, after over 10 years since Kia‘s best-selling SUV first hit the global markets, Korea got the first real look at the third-generation Sorento, which is setting the standard for the ultimate upper-class SUV. The all-new Sorento, which was officially unveiled to the media in Seoul, features more muscular, rounded shoulders at the rear.
For Kia, football fever didn’t end with the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil in July. After supporting this year’s World Cup as an official sponsor, this month Kia turned to Canada to sponsor and support the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup with transportation vehicles and various marketing events including the Kia Mascot Friends initiative.
When it comes to sports, Kia takes things pretty seriously. As the official sponsor of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™, we had the chance to celebrate this mega sporting event with football fans from all over the world in Rio this year. Over the past month, there were indeed many surprises in Rio, as superstar teams went head-to-head for the title of best football team in the world. As the football festivities slowly come to an end, we wanted to take a look back on the variety of Kia-sponsored events held for our fans, tied together with the underlying theme of ‘Surprises Make Surprises.’

Earlier this year, as a lead-up to the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™, World Cup official sponsor Kia and host FIFA teamed up for the “Power of Football” contest which kicked off today with the match between host country Brazil and Croatia. Our mission was simple: to find a story that demonstrated how football could inspire a local community. And what we found was more than just a touching football story in time for the 2014 World Cup, but a true example of inspiration that brought about a surprising change to a small town located on an island country off the coast of South America.
The 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ is just a couple days away, and Kia is honored to be a continued partner. With a little help from supermodel Adriana Lima, Kia Motors America (KMA) is launching the “For One Month, Let’s All be Fútbol Fans” campaign, marked by a series of three TV commercials featuring Lima, the 2015 Optima midsize sedan and the Sorento CUV, a man cave, and a sports bar. Check out the commercials before they make their TV debut on June 12!
From May 30 to June 8, Kia wowed at the Busan International Motor Show with its “Neo-Futurismo” concept booth, featuring vehicles and technology pointing towards the future. All eyes were on the all-new Carnival (also known as the Sedona in some markets), which made its Korean public debut at the seaside city.
This summer, Kia is officially responsible for the transportation of all teams, officials, delegates and official VIP during the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™. As an Official Automotive Partner of FIFA, Kia handed over the 410-vehicle fleet during a handover ceremony at Arena de Sao Paulo in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Last month, Kia hosted the annual Kia World Extreme Games in Shanghai, China, at the Jiangwen Sports Centre, bringing together extreme sports stars and fans alike from all around the world. Over the course of four days from late April to Early May, over 200 of the world’s best extreme sports athletes traveled to Shanghai from almost 30 countries including Brazil, Japan, China and New Zealand.

Born for Beijing
Specifically tailored for the Chinese market, the K4 concept car was finally unveiled in Beijing, at the 2014 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition. What’s even more exciting is the news that the K4 concept car will come to life, as Kia plans production versions of the sedan to go on sale in the second half of this year, focused on targeting drivers with families.
