Global car makers gathered once again in Shanghai, China to present their latest models to the world’s biggest auto market as the curtain raised on Auto Shanghai 2015 on April 20. Kia Motors and its joint venture partner Dongfeng Yueda Kia (DYK) in China also participated with 27 vehicle models including the all-new Kia Optima and the premium sedan Quoris, also known as K900 in North America.
Now available in most markets, the 3rd generation Sorento has been well received by customers and auto communities worldwide and has already won several major awards including the Red Dot design award, iF design award and the highest five-star crash safety rating by Euro NCAP. Originally developed as Kia’s first crossover SUV model, the first generation Sorento exploded onto the automotive scene in 2002. Kia’s first all-electric zero emissions vehicle for global markets, Soul EV, has been named the Best Eco-Friendly Vehicle at the MotorWeek’s 34th annual Drivers’ Choice Awards. The new Kia Soul continues to be recognized for its iconic design and popularity – this time in Moscow, Russia, where the ceremony for the prestigious Golden Klaxon automotive award was held. Golden Klaxon is one of Russia’s top 3 automotive awards and highly influential among car owners. To provide an insider’s look at the newest model, we sat down with the Kia teams involved in the development and sales of the all-new Kia Sorento and asked them about what makes it the ideal SUV model for today’s motorists. Kia Motors Slovakia set its highest record for production in 2014 with more than 323,000 cars and 493,000 engines produced at its Zilina production facility, the sole European manufacturing plant owned by Kia Motors. That represents a 3 percent increase in car production output compared to the previous year. Thanks to the increased demand from its major markets, including Russia, United Kingdom, and Germany, the Zilina plant was able to run at full production capacity.
