There’s a lot of excitement around the launch of the all-new Kia Sorento which goes on sale in the global market in early 2015. To provide an insider’s look at the newest model, we sat down with the Kia teams involved in the development and sales of the all-new Kia Sorento and asked them about what makes it the ideal SUV model for today’s motorists. Kia Motors Slovakia set its highest record for production in 2014 with more than 323,000 cars and 493,000 engines produced at its Zilina production facility, the sole European manufacturing plant owned by Kia Motors. That represents a 3 percent increase in car production output compared to the previous year. Thanks to the increased demand from its major markets, including Russia, United Kingdom, and Germany, the Zilina plant was able to run at full production capacity.
The North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), is the first chance of the year to catch a glimpse of what’s ahead for the international automotive industry. Amid the excitement sit 25 of Kia’s finest vehicles, including the all-new Sorento, the all-new Sedona (Grand Carnival), the enhanced K900 (Quoris), and the Cadenza. The Kia Soul Red Zone is another highlight of the Kia booth, with its chic black body and 18-inch alloy wheels grabbing everyone’s attention.
Despite its multiple advantages, the relatively short range of EVs has been a major concern for many car buyers. In terms of range, Kia Soul EV is setting a new benchmark in its class, with a single-charge driving distance of 132 miles. Next Green Car, a group of renowned eco and green car experts based in the UK, recently conducted a real-world range test to verify Soul EV’s actual driving range. The results were even better than could be imagined!

Kia Motors revealed another surprise for customers, and it all happened at a small petrol station in London. In celebrating the launch of Kia Soul EV’s online information center in the UK, Kia rolled out a stunt targeting customers who came to fill their cars with petrol by charging them only the cost of a full charge of the Kia Soul EV instead of their actual petrol price.
It’s been described as sleek, bold and luxurious, and now you can add ‘green’ to the list. The all-new Kia Sorento has recently been recognized as the 12th Kia vehicle to receive the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) certificate from TÜV Nord, the renowned international technical inspection organization. The LCA certificate is awarded exclusively to vehicles that have satisfied the demanding ISO 14040 standards, which consider the environmental impact of the vehicle throughout its whole lifespan, from the production process all the way to its decomposition. Kia’s premium SUV model, the all-new Sorento, made its overseas debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show earlier this year. Kia Motors brought home another prestigious award, with the Kia Soul EV winning the Car of the Year title in Norway. The largest consumer information service providing organization in Norway, Dinside, has named the Kia Soul EV the best car for 2015 based on its price, space, handling, technology, and environmental friendliness.
Kia is the defending champion of the International Car of the Year (ICOTY) award organized by Road & Travel Magazine! During the 2015 LA International Auto Show, the Kia K900, known as Quoris in some markets, was honored by Road & Travel Magazine as the most emotionally compelling vehicle for 2015. It is the first time in the award’s history that the same brand was selected for three consecutive years. Previously, we were recognized for our premium sedan, the Cadenza, and our best-selling Optima midsize sedan.
The curtain was raised on the LA Auto Show on November 21, 2014, where Kia Motors presented thirty of its top cars, including the New Sorento, New Sedona, K900 (Quoris), and Soul EV. Kia’s booth featured four sections with each one rocking a ‘California Adventure’ theme. Ranging from dry desert to fruit-filled valley, the Kia booth attracted visitors with a variety of themes based on music, decoration, food and cars.

In 2014, Kia introduced the Soul EV, the brand’s first-ever electric vehicle for overseas markets based on the second-generation iconic Soul urban crossover. With its fresher appearance and ultra-low operating costs, the Soul EV boasts an 81.4 kW electric motor, producing 285 Nm of torque, and a high-capacity 27 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery pack. On a single charge, Kia Soul EV can travel up to 212 km (131 miles), and it comes with industry-leading warranties in its major sales markets (a comprehensive 7-Year, 150,000 km warranty in Europe and 10 year/100,000 mile warranty in US). The Kia Ray, a vehicle that is only marketed in Kia’s home country of Korea, recently had a chance to play dress-up with some Ray drivers and fans that got a firsthand look at unique and personalized Ray vehicles on display at the second annual Ray Dress-Up Festival in Korea!
Kia Motors America had a fun display this year at the 2014 SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) Show in Las Vegas, bringing the sights and sounds of the race track to the Kia booth. Kia celebrated its second title-winning season at the 2014 Pirelli World Challenge with the “A Day at the Races” 2014 SEMA display commemorating the company’s racing success. The booth embraced the tastier side of trackside festivities, with a modified Sedona serving up handcrafted Ballast Point brews, and a festive Soul EV, outfitted with iconic finishes from the classic ice cream truck serving up Smitten Ice Cream.
Kia’s GT RIDE smartphone app is not just a fun car game for your phone, but also one of the most well-designed. The app was recently awarded the prestigious Red Dot ‘Best of the Best’ design award in the Communication Design category. The Kia GT RIDE app, available to download for free on both Apple and Android devices, lets users design their own unique race track by moving their smartphone through the air and using its motion sensors to plot a route. Users can then race on their own GT RIDE circuits, steering a Kia pro_cee’d GT around the course and setting their own race times. Read on for more about the GT RIDE app!
