UPDATE (July 6, 2012): Kia TV Episode of UEFA EURO 2012 & Kia Dubstep Contest World Final
The historic and dynamic city of Warsaw, Poland was bustling with excitement last week for the opening match and official start of UEFA EURO 2012™, Europe’s most highly anticipated football (soccer) event. Many loyal Kia-Buzz readers might already know that Kia has served as one of the EUROTOP Partners of the UEFA European Football Championship™ since the 2008 games, which took place in Switzerland.
Following a successful sponsorship of UEFA EURO 2008™, Kia set out on a mission to energize anticipation and enthusiasm for the 2012 games. To do so, we launched a global contest by combining football with another entertaining European export: dubstep dance music.
A worldwide call for entries was sent, inviting dancers from all walks of life to dance to the smash hit dubstep track “I Can’t Stop” by DJ Flux Pavilion. The finalists of this online dance battle would be flown to the opening games of EURO 2012 to compete in a final showdown. The entries poured in from poppers, lockers, breakers and dancers alike, and we even received some ‘interesting’ interpretations of dance.
From 200 plus entries, we narrowed it down to 16. From there, thousands voted to choose the final eight to send to Poland, and among those finalists, only one team was chosen as the ‘Kia Dubstep World Final Champions’ at a battle that took place on Friday June 8th at the official UEFA EURO 2012™ fan zone in front of an audience of 30,000 screaming attendees.
Below is a photo recap of the event, and be sure to stay tuned for a full Kia TV episode covering the action.
