Kia Motors has been a proud supporter of the X Games Asia since 2005. Since 2007, we’ve been the title sponsor of KIA X Games Asia – a sponsorship which will continue until 2012. The 12th edition of the event, held in Shanghai over a four-day period this past weekend, had a fourth-consecutive record-breaking attendance of 58,400 people! It’s great to see the event growing, in line with the popularity of extreme sports.

Top international skateboarder Pierre-Luc Gagnon, from Canada, emerged from the competition as the event’s first-ever double-gold medalist, winning both the BMX mini-MegaRamp and the Skateboard mini-MegaRamp competitions. He took the podium in front of 24,800 fans on the final day of the competition.

More than 190 athletes from 23 countries participated in this year’s event, including Sandro Dias of Brazil, Andy MacDonald from the US, Hung Chien-Kai of Taiwan and Australia’s Vince Byron. The KIA X Games Asia competition allows extreme athletes to impress fans and judges with great tricks and techniques in nine different competitions within Aggressive Inline, BMX freestyle, Skateboard and MotoX sport disciplines.

Action sports fans can catch repeats of the 2010 KIA X Games Asia on ESPN networks across Asia. Programme schedules and information can be found at www.espnstar.com. Check out our KIA X Games Asia photo album on Kia Motors Worldwide Facebook fan page for more images from the event!

  • Interesting post, I’ve often been interested in this subject and hope you make more articles or blog posts on this subject from the future.

  • I guess a video on this page would have helped, but the fact that the event was advertised very well on espnstar makes us for those who missed the bus.
