[Car Buzz] Has Kia Made Minivans Cool Again?
“We’ll openly admit our affection for minivans. Obviously some are better than others, but compared to today’s crossovers, they offer tons more room, better fuel economy (usually) and a cheaper price tag (also usually). So why don’t more people buy them? They’re out of fashion. (…) Only now, one unlikely brand may have just managed to make the minivan attractive again. Yep, that’d be Kia with its totally redesigned Sedona. Unveiled last week at New York, we were immediately impressed by its simple, yet bold front-end styling.”
[New York Times] Video Review: Yes, the Kia Sedona Is a Van, but That’s a Good Thing
“Kia’s design team has created a deceptively elegant people hauler. It’s as fashion-forward as it gets in this segment. An upward kink in the lower glass beltline is in chic. The Sedona’s cabin quality has gone from worst to first. Plastic lumber trim looks real, leather on the SX Limited is as smooth as the baby bottoms it will haul. It’s fancy enough that parents might designate Sedona a child-free zone.”
[About Autos] 2015 Kia Sedona Long-Term Test Drive and Review
“Most manufacturers departed from the minivan segment long ago. Kia is one of only five automakers that have decided to stay in the game. With the introduction of the 2015 Kia Sedona MPV (multi-purpose vehicle), we’re glad they did.”
[U.S. News & World Report] Redesigned 2016 Kia Sorento Climbs Midsize SUV Rankings
“The redesigned 2016 Kia Sorento currently ranks second of 12 affordable midsize SUVs, which is an improvement over the 2015 model that placed 10th in the class. Here’s how the changes for 2016 help make the Sorento a top contender among midsize SUVs.”
[Motor Trend] The Big Test: Minivans – Chrysler, Honda, Kia, Nissan, and Toyota
Of our five contenders, the Kia Sedona found the most favor with our Big Test judges. “Driving this thing is actually a lot of fun. This is the car that encourages me to be myself in it, to push it a little bit. If I had my family with me, it would give me confidence that I could be safe in it under any conditions.” The Sedona’s body was exceptionally well-controlled in both the twisty and rough road portions of our loop, without the shimmies and shakes some of its competitors had.
