Kia Motors Europe breaks production records in 2014 January 20th, 2015

What great news to start off the new year! Kia Motors Slovakia set its highest record for production in 2014 with more than 323,000 cars and 493,000 engines produced at its Zilina production facility, the sole European manufacturing plant owned by Kia Motors. That represents a 3 percent increase in car production output compared to the previous year. Thanks to the increased demand from its major markets, including Russia, United Kingdom, and Germany, the Zilina plant was able to run at full production capacity.

With its distinctive look and practicality, the Kia Sportage remained the most popular Kia model produced by the plant, representing 55 percent of the total vehicle output. The cee’d model family including the hatchback, Sportswagon, and pro_cee’d models accounted for 36 percent of production output, while the Venga made up the remaining 9 percent.

“I am very proud that we accomplished such amazing results last year. This confirms our position as a leading manufacturing plant for the entire corporation,” said Eek-Hee Lee, President and CEO of Kia Motors Slovakia. “I would like to sincerely thank all of our employees for their creativity and huge enthusiasm for work.

With next generation and refreshed models soon to be added to the production line, we anticipate 2015 will be yet another year during which the Kia Zilina production facility will run on all cylinders.
