The new Kia Mohave SUV (known as ‘Borrego’ in some markets) was shown for this first time in the Russian market yesterday at the 12th Moscow International Automobile Exhibition. Having made its official world premiere at the 2008 North American International Auto Show in Detroit earlier this year, the Mohave will offer Russian customers class-leading performance from its 3.8-litre gasoline and 3.0-litre diesel engines as well as a class-leading 5-year unlimited kilometer manufacturer warranty.
The Mohave is expected to go a long way toward further improving the Kia brand image and sales performance in Russia, whose demand for SUVs has risen by 78% in the first half of 2008 compared to same period of last year to 210,131 vehicles. Meanwhile, Kia has realized an impressive 45% rise in Russia sales (including knock-down assembly sales) in the first half of the year, with over 58,300 vehicles delivered.
Also making an appearance at this year’s Moscow show are the three SOUL concepts that were unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March, which will surely notch up the anticipation as the world premiere of the production version of the Soul fast approaches.
