Soul hamsters in Korea December 3rd, 2010
Hello. I am Se-hwan Myung and I work in the Domestic Marketing Team in Seoul. Today, I’d like to tell you about a recent Soul promotion in Korea.
What comes to mind when someone mentions Kia Soul? Attractive design? A wide range of colors? When we asked this question to customers in Korea, many said they think of hamsters. That’s because of the TV commercial featuring hamsters produced by Kia Motors America (KMA) which can be seen via the Internet and other media.
Actually, I was a little surprised that KMA’s hamster TV commercial left a strong impression on Korean consumers since there are many other Soul ads here.
Since Soul’s hamsters resonated with consumers, our team reached out to them with a fun promotion using the characters.

What do you think? Can you see people enjoying the hamsters’ dance? Our promotion’s goal was to allow customers experience Soul’s fun and exciting brand, as well as its practicality.
A lot of effort was made to create a promotional video that gained exposure via newspapers and other media. Would you like to see how the video came about? Take a look at the clip for the story behind it.
Did you enjoy it? Our team was delighted that we were able to connect with many people at stores where folks come to shop regularly. We also enjoyed this promotion and hope to do this kind of event with customers again!
