Taking Things to the Next Level with a Slam Dunk November 15th, 2011

If you’re into basketball, you may have attempted a slam dunk at some point and realized that it’s no easy feat. This may be why we saw some jaws drop when Blake Griffin, power forward at the Los Angeles Clippers, jumped over the Kia Optima and won the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest in February. 18,000 basketball fans watched in awe as Blake’s teammate, Baron Davis, passed him a ball through the sunroof of the Kia Optima, the NBA’s official vehicle, while a choir sang “I believe I can fly” by R. Kelly.

Not your average dunk, not your average midsize sedan

After seeing what Blake Griffin could do, Kia decided to honor the rookie NBA All-Star’s achievement with a thirty-second television ad that features Griffin soaring over the Optima with the copy, “Not your average dunk, not your average midsize sedan, the all-new 2011 Kia Optima.”

Blake Griffin and Kia Motors are teaming up once again to “take things to the next level.” This time, he’s donned a pair of roller skates wearing a Superman-like blue cape, helmet and blue striped sweat suit. The Kia Optima lead him to a raised platform, where he jumps, flies and makes a slam dunk into a hoop.
