The long road ahead August 5th, 2010

It’s been in the works for a few months now; it’s taken countless phone calls, emails and official letters to/from four different countries on two continents; there have been changes, reversions and revisions to just about every detail… but the crew has finally come together and is now on their way back to Russia from Seoul in the all-new Kia Sportage just in time for the Moscow International Motor Salon.

The ‘crew’ is made up of a group of 13 people: bloggers, videographers, Kia Motors Russia staff, professional drivers and technicians. They will be travelling the 12,000km course over the next 2 ½ weeks in our comfy new Sportage from Seoul, on a ferry to China, north towards Mongolia and the Gobi Desert, before entering the team’s native Russia for the last leg of the race.

Today, in the sticky summer heat of Seoul, they fun-lovingly filmed with the vehicles and had a candid interview with Kenny Lee, Senior Vice President of Europe Operations Division.

Here are some pictures of today’s events at Kia headquarters in Seoul. They set off for China once these pictures were taken and you can follow their adventures through their blog ( and regular Twitter Tweets (@KiaMotorsRussia).

We wish the crew a very successful journey and look forward to seeing one of their vehicles on display at the Moscow Motor Show (August 25 – September 5, 2010).

    Dear Team KIA,

Over the years the technology was totally outdated that was used in KIA vehicles. I must say I was really impressed when I saw the change in drive and technology.

Hats Off to you all .. Keep progressing and in no time you guys will touch the skies ..

  • Thanks for rediscovering the ‘all-new’ Kia and being a new fan, Farrukh!
